Curved Penis and Peyronie's disease : Treatments you should know about

Only you and your partner will be be aware of a curved penis problem, which can have a serious physical and psychological impact on a man's sexual function. While there is a limited number of treatments available, fortunately a couple are medically proven to provide appropriate relief. Here are some tips to help you understand more about the condition and its cure.

Our staff has published a report entitled "How To Correct Penile Curvature/Peyronie's Disease And Improve Your Sex Life" and it is available free for the asking.

Peyronie's disease is a benign (non-cancerous) condition that affects between one and three percent of men, usually between the ages of 40 to 60. This number may be underreported because men are often embarrassed to talk about it. It involves the tunica albuginea, the semi-elastic sheath covering the spongy tissue in the penis. Hardened scar tissue (plaque) forms on the top of the penis or, less commonly, on the underside and shortens the tunica albuginea, causing the penis to bend toward the plaque during erection. The fibrous plaque can vary in size from just millimeters to virtually the entire lenght of the penis (the usual range is between 1 and 2 cm). About 20% to 30% of patients have multiple plaques.

Causes and symptoms

While no single factor has been clearly identified as the source of the problem, trauma associated with intercourse (often minor and unnoticed), family history of a similar condition or an autoimmune disease are possible culprits.

Men ususally seek medical evaluation due to one or more of the following symptoms :

  • Curved penis during erection
  • Painful erections
  • Bumps or nodules in the penis
  • Decreased rigidity or diminished ability to maintain erections

Not surprisingly, the main effect of a curved penis associated with Peyronie's disease is often psychological as having a mis-shapen penis can seriously affect a man's self-image. One study reported that more than 77% of patients with Peyronie's experienced psychological distress and performance anxiety. In fact, men (and their partner) suffering from the disease often go through a process similar to grief or mourning.

In addition, a curved penis associated with Peyronie's disease is commonly related to erectile dysfunction (ED). Severe curvature, more than 40 degrees upwards or 30 degrees downwards or sideways, will put a major damper on sexual activity and prevent penetration or intercourse. A circumference plaque, going all the way around the penis, or extensive disease may cause a lack of rigidity at the site of the hardened tissue. In up to 30% of men, ED can also be caused by a decrease in blood flow to the penis or a leak of blood flow out of the penis.

Treatment

Fortunately, there are a few natural and medically-backed treatments to a curved penis :

Size Genetics system

This is a system promoted mainly primarily for penis enlargement. It combines a traction device and an exercise program both of which are also used for correction of penile deviations or curvatures, as evidenced by numerous medical studies.

With the traction method, which is the foundation of the system, the penis cells are triggered to be trained or exercised naturally increasing their elasticity thus reducing or completely eliminating the bent in the curved penis. This simply means that the constant pull of the traction device is bound to loosen up the “tunica albuginea” thus reducing the bending pressure on the penis and the likelihood of scarring resulting to Peyronie’s Disease.

Penis Health Exercise Program

The fully natural way of correcting a curved penis is to use exercises. Penis fitness programs, such as the excellent Penis Health program, offer exercises that can break the scar tissue down and help reverse the curve. The Jelq is one such penis exercise that has been successfully used to address this problem.

Actually, your best bet to treat a curved penis is to try both of these two penis straightening techniques at the same time. This will speed up the healing process, although you have to realize that no miracle is going to happen over night. The scar tissue took a long time to form and is not going away fast. What you need is patience and persistence, the two tools that will take you to your goal. Exercise and wear the traction device everyday and you will see the bend disappearing little by little.

The Size Genetics solution, mentionned above, includes a complete penis exercise program to correct a curved penis.
